Light Fixture Installation
Chandeliers, pendants, vanities and flush mounts — hung level, supported properly, switched sensibly.
Light Fixture Installation — what's involved
Replacing a fixture sounds like the simplest electrical job there is, right up until the box turns out not to be rated for the weight, the ceiling is eighteen feet up over a staircase, or the three pendants over the island need to hang level with each other and at exactly the right height. The kitchen photographed above is that job: recessed cans, a five-globe linear fixture centered over the island, and a matching pendant, all aligned and hung at a height that clears sightlines across the room.
Electric Shock handles fixture work from a single vanity light to a multi-point chandelier, including the parts that make it awkward — support for heavy fixtures, correct box selection, hanging height, alignment between multiple pendants, and switching or dimming that suits the fixture rather than fighting it.

Fixture work we take on
- Chandeliers, including heavy fixtures needing rated boxes or supplementary support
- Island and counter pendants, aligned and set at a consistent height
- Vanity and mirror lighting, positioned to light a face rather than the top of a head
- Flush and semi-flush mounts in bedrooms, hallways and closets
- High-ceiling, stairwell and vaulted installations requiring proper access equipment
- New fixture locations where no ceiling box exists, including switching
- Damp- and wet-rated fixtures for bathrooms, porches and exposed exteriors
The Light Fixture Installation process
Check the box and the weight
Fixture weight against box rating, and whether the box is fixed to structure. Anything substantial needs a rated box or a brace, not the existing pancake box and optimism.
Set the height deliberately
Pendant and chandelier height over an island, a table or a stairwell is worth a moment of discussion — it is the thing people notice, and it is trivial to adjust before the fixture is wired and awkward afterwards.
Assemble and hang
Fixtures are assembled on the ground where possible, hung, leveled and aligned with each other where there is more than one.
Match the control
Dimmer compatibility with whatever lamp or integrated LED the fixture uses, so it dims smoothly and does not buzz.
What you get out of it
Supported for its actual weight
Rated boxes and real bracing mean a heavy fixture stays where it was hung.
Aligned and level
Multiple pendants hung to a consistent height and spacing is the detail that separates a finished job from an installed one.
Access handled
Stairwell and vaulted-ceiling fixtures need proper access equipment. That is our problem rather than yours.
